Stellar Winds Drive Strong Variations in Exoplanet Evaporative Outflow Patterns and Transit Absorption Signatures

چکیده

Abstract Stellar wind and photon radiation interactions with a planet can cause atmospheric depletion, which may have potentially catastrophic impact on planet’s habitability. While planetary atmospheres outflows been researched to some degree, studies of stellar are in their infancy. Here, we use three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic simulations model the effect magnetosphere outflow hypothetical planet, modeled an H-rich evaporating envelope prescribed mass-loss rate, orbiting habitable zone close low-mass M dwarf. patterns and variations in native and non-native interlanguage pragmatic rating: effects of rater training, intercultural proficiency, and self-assessment

although there are studies on pragmatic assessment, to date, literature has been almost silent about native and non-native english raters’ criteria for the assessment of efl learners’ pragmatic performance. focusing on this topic, this study pursued four purposes. the first one was to find criteria for rating the speech acts of apology and refusal in l2 by native and non-native english teachers...

Exoplanet Transit Parallax

The timing and duration of exoplanet transits has a dependency on observer position due to parallax. In the case of an Earth-bound observer with a 2 AU baseline the dependency is typically small and slightly beyond the limits of current timing precision capabilities. However, it can become an important systematic effect in high-precision repeated transit measurements for long period systems due...

Stellar activity in exoplanet hosts

Most of the efforts on the search and characterization of Earth-like exoplanets are currently focused on low mass stars. These represent the vast majority of the population in our galaxy (about 75% of the stars have a lower mass than the Sun) and their interest lies in the fact that the photometric and spectroscopic signal of orbiting Earth-like planets is higher due to lower star-planet size a...

Stellar Winds in Interaction

WR140 (WC7pd + O5) is often considered to be the archetype of hot, luminous colliding-wind binaries, with strong cyclic high-energy and dust-formation events. The challenge is that this system is quite extreme, with a long period (nearly an integral 7.94 years) and high eccentricity (e = 0.88). Most of the action thus occurs during the relatively short several-month interval of close periastron...

Refining Exoplanet Ephemerides and Transit Observing Strategies

Transiting planet discoveries have yielded a plethora of information regarding the internal structure and atmospheres of extra-solar planets. These discoveries have been restricted to the low-periastron distance regime due to the bias inherent in the geometric transit probability. Monitoring known radial velocity planets at predicted transit times is a proven method of detecting transits, and p...
